Elite Tennis Players at Wimbledon Have Access to Elite Fitness Equipment
The All England Lawn Tennis Club, strawberries and cream, and Centre Court—Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and has plenty of tradition surrounding it. At this year’s tournament, the world’s leading tennis players will have access to state-of-the-art Life Fitness, ICG and Hammer Strength equipment at two gyms onsite at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
The equipment, which has been provided by Life Fitness in partnership with the Gym Rental Company, was selected by The Championships to support the training and conditioning of the sport’s top athletes during the two-week competition, which started on July 1 and ends on July 14.
In addition, the multi-year agreement will see Life Fitness and the Gym Rental Company extend its provision of fitness equipment to the 2020 and 2021 Championships.
The onsite gyms, purpose-built for the competition, include treadmills, cross-trainers and upright bikes from Life Fitness’ Integrity Series, ICG IC6 indoor cycles and Hammer Strength dumbbells.
Life Fitness and the Gym Rental Company also installed equipment at a third training facility at the nearby Bank of England Sports Centre, which hosted the Wimbledon Qualifying Tournament last week.
“Every element of a player’s experience during Wimbledon is carefully considered and it is our responsibility to give them the best support possible to perform at the highest level, and the warm-up and cool-down facilities are an essential part of this,” said Andrew Ambrose, General Manager of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. “We are a world-class event and we look for world-class suppliers to support the successful delivery of the Championships. Life Fitness was able to provide us with quality fitness equipment and a seamless solution, and the support we’ve received, from working with us to selecting the equipment, through to installation and onsite care, has been fantastic.”
Danny Oliver, Country Manager for Life Fitness UK said: “We were incredibly proud to be supplying equipment to the Wimbledon Championships; it is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious events in global sport and the quality and range of fitness equipment provided from across our brand portfolio will support players at the absolute top of their game.”
The 2019 Wimbledon Championships are the 133rd edition of the tournament.
