Get Moving For World Wellness Weekend
World Wellness Weekend (WWW) is happening Sept. 19-20. The goal of WWW is "to inspire and empower people to make healthier choices and enjoy an active lifestyle with family and friends." Take the Personal Wellness Pledge and commit yourself to healthy weekend. Wellness means different things to different people. Exercise is just one aspect, but one that Life Fitness knows a thing or two about. We encourage you to get moving this weekend and here a few ways that you can, regardless of your age or fitness level.
Go for a walk.
Walking is great exercise, has low impact on the joints, and it’s easy to add to your wellness routine. The World Health Organization recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week for adults. A brisk 30-minute walk can easily become a part of that routine. Pick a scenic area to stroll through and schedule a walk with friends. It’s an enjoyable way to destress and pass the time.
Run a 5K.
Now, it’s not a great idea to lace up the sneakers and run three miles on a whim without proper training, and organized 5Ks are hard to find during the pandemic. But if you’re ready for a run, head out and put in a three-mile run on your own or with a few friends.
Revisit your health club.
Fitness facilities are reopening, and most are adhering to strict sanitation and safety protocols. When health clubs follow proper guidelines, health risks appear to be very low. So, grab your mask, prepare to socially distance yourself from others, and head to you local gym for a quick workout. It will feel good to be back.
Take a virtual fitness class.
Virtual fitness has become hugely popular during the pandemic. If you already have a personal trainer you like there's a good chance they're offering some sort of at-home, on-demand workout. Many health clubs are also offering virtual fitness classes. You can choose the type of workout you're comfortable with ranging from high-intensity interval training and cardio workouts to yoga.
It doesn't really matter what you choose to do over World Wellness Weekend, just make it a point to be active for a couple of days. Every bit of exercise counts.
